Work History

Undergraduate Research Assistant

Cyprus Institute (Centre of Excellence)
08.2024 - Current
  • Working with Dr Charalambos Chrysostomou on machine learning algorithms for predictive of modelling of viral protein evolution.
  • Wrote Python code to read Fasta files and return lists of amino acid sequences. Automated the encoding procedure of amino acids to numbers. Implemented a Convolutional Neural Network and trained it to identify if encoded sequence is Human or Non-Human.

Research assistant

Cyprus Institute of Neurology & Genetics
05.2024 - Current
  • Working with Dr George Spyrou on bioinformatics. The internship involved a literature project where we had to read and analyze papers. A research project was also carried out on finding the molecules (proteins & genes) that are associated with a specific part of the exposome (ionising radiation, gravity, shear stress, electric & magnetic fields).

Research intern

American University of Beirut
02.2024 - Current
  • Working with Professor Malek Tabbal on simulations for plasma sputtering processes using SiMTRA software and Python collaborating with University d'Orleans in France.
  • Completed literature review to understand the physical mechanisms behind the process and assess prior analyses performed.

Academic Research & Teaching Assistant

Imperial College London
09.2023 - Current
  • Assisting 1st year undergraduate students with laboratory work by demonstrating experiments involving electronics and optics.
  • Completed Pedagogy for Physics course that trains physics students for teaching.
  • Assisting with academic research the Ion-Trapping research group.

Undergraduate Research

Imperial College London
06.2023 - 08.2023
  • UROP funded by UKRI part of the Quantum Optics & Laser Science Group.
  • Constructed part of the detection system for an experiment searching for dark matter including the production of low-noise amplifiers and superconducting resonators.
  • Performed extended literature review, analytical calculations and simulations with Python.
  • Presented my progress weekly in the research group meetings.
  • Results presented at International Conference.

Education

Master of Science - Physics

Imperial College London

High School Diploma - Science

International School of Paphos
06.2019

Skills

  • Data collection, analysis and object-oriented programming with Python
  • Excellent communication, team-working and leadership abilities developed from Debating Competitions and Group Projects
  • Fluent in Greek
  • Learning German Level 3 on Imperial Horizons (equivalent to B1 CEFR)
  • IELTS 75 Band Score
  • ECDL certified, proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access
