Work history
Undergraduate Research Assistant
The Cyprus Institute (Centre of Excellence)
Nicosia
2024.08 - 2024.10
Working with Dr Charalambos Chrysostomou on machine learningalgorithms for predictive of modelling of viral protein evolution. Created Python code to read Fasta files and return a list of the amino acid sequences. Automated the procedure for encoding the amino acids sequences to numbers.
Applied Machine Learning by training a Convolutional Neural Network and a Boosted Decision Tree to assess if the encoded sequence belongs to a Human or Non-Human.
Research assistant
Cyprus Institute of Neurology & Genetics
Nicosia
2024.05 - Current
Working with Dr George Spyrou on bioinformatics. The internship involved a literature project where we had to read and analyze papers. A research project was also carried out on finding the molecules (proteins & genes) that are associated with a specific part of the exposome (ionising radiation, gravity, shear stress, electric & magnetic fields).
Research intern
American University of Beirut
Paphos
2024.02 - Current
Working with Professor Malek Tabbal on simulations for plasma sputtering processes using SiMTRA software and Python collaborating with University d'Orleans in France.
Completed literature review to understand the physical mechanisms behind the process and assess prior analyses.
Academic Research & Teaching Assistant
Imperial College London
London
2023.09 - Current
Assisting 1st year undergraduate students with laboratory work by demonstrating experiments involving electronics and optics.
Completed Pedagogy for Physics course that trains physics students for teaching.
Assisting with academic research the Ion-Trapping research group.
Undergraduate Research

2023.06 - 2023.08
UROP funded by UKRI part of the Quantum Optics & Laser Science Group.
Constructed part of the detection system for an experiment searching for dark matter including the production of low-noise amplifiers and superconducting resonators.
Performed extended literature review, analytical calculations and simulations with Python.
Presented my progress weekly in the research group meetings.
Results presented at International Conference.
